Director of Fundraising and Development
Role
Alice joined the Foundation in June 2022 to build the relationships and funds we need to make our communities’ dreams a reality. She works with partners, funders and philanthropic individuals and organisations to build East London’s most inclusive and collaborative coalitions.
Bio
After a first degree in History at the London School of Economics, Alice studied at Birkbeck for a Masters in Film, Television and Screen Media and another in Psychosocial Studies. She also has the Chartered Institute of Marketing Postgraduate Professional Diploma in Marketing.
Alice has 30 years experience as a funding, marketing and public affairs professional in the non-profit sector. She has particularly enjoyed her time in the health, culture and environmental sectors and is drawn to organisations that meld social inclusivity to culture and social causes and equity. She has worked for global institutions, including the National Trust and the Royal Opera House, and small NGOs and museums, including the Environmental Investigation Agency and the Freud Museum. She wants to be part of the movement that will one day level up fundraising as a profession.

We love East London
Hackney is home for Alice, and East London pretty much provides everything needed to live a good life. People from across the world have joined our community to share their lives, stories, community — building, history, creativity and ambitions. Our markets, restaurants and shops provide every imaginable culinary opportunity. We can feed our souls with the wildlife along the River Lea, a Ring Cycle at the Arcola, a matinee at the Genesis Cinema, street dance classes in Newham or a scoot round the William Morris Gallery before Sunday drinks in the park. East Londoners have always shared their troubles and travails but also their talent and sheer joy for living.

Alice loves cooking, film and studying. Her great passion is gardening. She grows flowers and fruit organically and is trying, and failing, to see slugs and snails as part of the wonder of nature.
