Sir David Bell

Co-Chair

Sir David Bell is a Non-Executive Director of the Economist. He retired as a Director of Pearson plc and Chairman of the Financial Times at the end of 2009 after 13 years on the Board.

He is currently Chair of Council, Roehampton University, Senior Independent Director on the Cambridge University Press and Assessment Board, President of Coram (the oldest children’s charity in the UK), Chair of the National Equality Standard advisory board, Chairman, Rare Recruitment, Chair of Bath Mozartfest, Chairman of Chapel Street Community Schools Trust, and Chair of The Institute of War & Peace Reporting Europe.

Between 1995 and 2002, Sir Bell was Chairman of the Millennium Bridge Trust, responsible for conceiving the first new bridge across the Thames in the centre of London for 100 years.
