Hackney, population 279,700.
Hackney is known for its lively street markets, graffiti, nightlife, and creative and artist community. The popular Hackney Carnival attracts over 80,000 people per year.
The borough also boasts an incredible amount of green spaces including Hackney Marshes, 1,300 listed buildings, and 29 conservation zones including Clapton Common and Clissold Park. It’s also the home of early feminist Mary Wollstonecraft.
It’s a popular place to live, work and play.
But we also know that Hackney is one of the most deprived areas in London.
So far the borough has had the third highest rate of covid-19 mortality, whose statistics that point to existing health and socio-economic inequalities.
The Foundation for Future London wants to support local people in Hackney to transform their lives during these challenging times, and we’re here to help.
