Reclaim – Safer Spaces, Shared Power

Delivered by Higham Hill Youth Partnership

In 2025, Foundation for Future London awarded a grant to Higham Hill Youth Partnership for Reclaim – Safer Spaces, Shared Power, through our COLLABORATE: SAFER SPACES commission. The project is supported by the Westfield East Bank Creative Futures Fund, jointly funded by Westfield Stratford City and Foundation for Future London.

The partnership will deliver a youth-led activation project in Higham Hill, centred on strengthening safety, inclusion, trust and opportunity in the local area. The team brings together Creative Engagement Services, Higham Hill Hub, COG Cycling and PinPoint, working alongside a wider network of community partners to shape and deliver the work.

The Westfield East Bank Creative Futures Fund is an award-winning, five-year programme investing £10 million into communities across Newham, Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Waltham Forest. By placing funding, resources and decision-making power directly into local hands, the programme has supported and catalysed the lives and creative journeys of more than 19,000 people across East London.

The commission builds directly on Foundation for Future London’s Empowering Safer Spaces campaign, which centred the voices of young people and under-resourced, marginalised communities to shape a shared understanding of what Safer Spaces mean across East London.

About the project

A youth-led activation project in Higham Hill brings together Creative Engagement Services, Higham Hill Hub, COG Cycling, PinPoint and a wider network of community partners to strengthen safety, inclusion, trust and opportunity in the area. The project connects ‘engage and respond’ youth outreach with broader local collaborations, embedding young people’s voices in shaping safer spaces. Running alongside the construction of the new Higham Hill Hub community centre, the work ensures youth-led perspectives are part of both the building’s foundation and the future of Higham Hill.

About the lead partners:

  • Creative Engagement Services – Youth specialists leading outreach, engagement and response work, as well as media-based projects.

  • Higham Hill Hub – Anchor charity building the new community centre and supporting youth activation in Higham Hill.

  • COG Cycling – A partnership offering cycling and mechanics projects for young people across East London.

  • PinPoint – Youth enterprise advocating for and working with young people through creative, vocational and youth voice initiatives.
