Delivered by Flourish In Diversity CIC
In 2022, the Foundation for Future London has awarded a grant to Flourish In Diversity for its project “Flourish In Diversity Summer Programme” for young people in Hackney through our Small Grant Scheme.
Their aim is to host a paid training programme for school leavers with a focus on sustainable and ethical fashion, salaried at London Living Wage.
The project meets three of our scheme’s key themes:
Flourish in Diversity CIC strives to support underrepresented young people access and prosper within the fashion sector. To ultimately diversify decision making roles and promote innovation, for a cleaner and fairer industry.
Our aim is to host a paid training programme for school leavers with a focus on sustainable and ethical fashion, salaried at London Living Wage.
The programme will upskill school leavers from ethnically and socio-economically diverse backgrounds in the widest industry skills gap, to boost employability and promote a cleaner industry amongst the future workforce and the wider fashion community.
Our programme consists of four weeks part time classroom-based learning, focused mainly on the fashion production cycle, from design concept to manufacturing and distribution of finished garments.
Each week will include teacher engagement through lectures and discussions, as well as independent working, guest speakers, industry experts, factory visits & exhibitions, and key life skills and sustainability related workshops.
Our young people will be given a project to complete by the end of the programme consisting of a case study which will involve supervised and independent working, through research carried out both on and off site.
At the conclusion of the programme, the young people will have the opportunity to complete a three-month paid placement with one of our brand partners.
