Lauren Gee began her career in placemaking in 2004 in Newham after completing her LLB Law degree and has lived or worked in East London ever since. Following the announcement of the successful London Olympics 2012 bid, she has guided transformation and change for local communities in Newham, Tower Hamlets, Redbridge and Waltham Forest – including community sustainability planning for the Olympic Athletes Village.
Currently, she works as a Senior Consultant for Genecon on a wide range of socioeconomic projects with local authorities, funders, community organisations and charities, co-creating strategies, projects and programmes that deliver real impact for local people.
Lauren is a wheelchair user with multiple complex disabilities and is passionate about accessibility, equity and fairness. She is also dedicated to supporting local communities through gamification, play and culture; she is a volunteer Managing Director for a Community Interest Company based in East London, which uses tabletop gaming and creativity to promote social inclusion.
Currently studying the MASc Interdisciplinary Problems and Methods with the London Interdisciplinary School, she believes in solving problems collaboratively, contributing to the development of inclusive places which work for everyone, so far as possible.
