Delivered by Vortex Jazz Club
In 2022, the Foundation for Future London has awarded a grant to Vortex Jazz Club for its project “Sound Engineer Training” for people in Hackney through our Small Grant Scheme.
“Sound Engineer Training” will be the training of six sound engineers for live concerts and livestreaming, thus creating a pool of engineers for the Vortex and other local venues and events.
The Small Grant Scheme is part of our new Westfield East Bank Creative Futures Fund, funded by Westfield Stratford City.
The project meets two of our scheme’s key themes, Employment Opportunities and Learning Opportunities.
The Vortex Jazz Club is arranging an introductory course for six would-be sound engineers, starting in February. It would involve 4 days of instruction by our lead sound engineer Louis Huddle, as well as assisting in gigs, up to and including outdoor events in Gillett Square. We are particularly keen on local people, and to help move this part of the live music sector which seems very male and white dominated! It would be appropriate, for example, for anyone who is thinking of starting in this area, or someone who is involved in a venue and wishes to expand their experience.
DEADLINE 11 FEBRUARY 2022
