Delivered by Urbiana
In 2024, the Foundation for Future London awarded a grant to Urbiana for its project “Make in East London” through our Medium Grant Scheme.
“Make in East London” is an East London based community project that uses the medium of arts, fashion and jewellery and accessories making to bring opportunity to those, who despite being passionate and having the creativity are unable to pursue their dreams, either due to poverty, or because of their underserved socio-economic background, or simply because they were left out of the system.
The Medium Grant Scheme is part of our Westfield East Bank Creative Futures Fund, funded by Westfield Stratford City.

From February 2023, for a period of 10 months Urbiana conducted workshops supporting 15 beneficiaries as part of its Make in East London project. We ran monthly workshops in small batches of 3 beneficiaries and enabled them to make their product retail ready.
Over this 10-month long project, we endeavour to reach out to 15 BAME women and teach them the nuances of how to turn their passion into a business and make their product retail ready. This not only involves all aspects of teaching them how to deliver their product for success in a retail environment but also provide a platform for six beneficiaries to sell their products at the Urbiana store at 156 Brick Lane.
