In 2025, Foundation for Future London awarded a grant to The Lady Powerhouse CIC for its project “HERstory in the Making” through our Year 5 Community Grant Scheme — part of the Westfield East Bank Creative Futures Fund, funded by Westfield Stratford City.

HERstory in the Making is a powerful mini-series that spotlights the excellence, resilience and ambition of under-served female founders. The series follows first-time entrepreneurs as they navigate the real highs and challenges of building a business — capturing their grit, growth and determination to succeed.

The Westfield East Bank Creative Futures Fund is an award-winning, five-year programme investing £10 million into the communities of Newham, Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Waltham Forest. By placing funding, resources and support directly into local people’s hands, the programme has already transformed the lives and careers of more than 19,000 East Londoners — helping talent thrive, ideas grow and futures take shape.

About the project

‘HERstory in the Making’ is a mini-series by The Lady Powerhouse CIC, dedicated to showcasing the excellence, resilience, and potential of under-served female founders.

This series follows the journeys of first-time female entrepreneurs, capturing their growth, challenges, and triumphs as they navigate the realities of building a business from the ground up. Each episode highlights key moments in their entrepreneurial journey—overcoming setbacks, celebrating wins, securing opportunities, and developing leadership skills. The series is designed, not only to document their progress but also, to inspire future female founders by proving that success is possible, even in the face of limited resources.

The series premiere will take place in East London, with continued promotion through YouTube and other digital platforms, ensuring these inspiring stories reach far and wide. By amplifying the voices of these founders, HERstory in the Making will foster greater support for women-led businesses and encourage a new generation of female entrepreneurs to step into their power.
