Future You programme is back for young people at Westfield Stratford City

Future You is a four-day festival of fun this October 2023 where you can join free workshops, seminars and activity sessions to learn new skills and dive into a world of possibility.

Head to Westfield Stratford City between 19 to 22 October 2023 from 12-8pm every day for a packed programme of workshops, talks and masterclasses, all designed to inspire young people aged 12-24.

We are delighted that several grantees are running activities….see below to find out more!

From learning how to repair and upcycle clothing to taking your social media content to the next level to showing off your football skills, there are dozens of free sessions every day that you can join.

These events will cover the following themes:

  • Music – Rap Workshops, Learn to DJ
  • Sport – West Ham Academy, Cricket, Basketball
  • Wellness – Mindfulness
  • Creative Arts – Fashion & Textiles, Floristry,
  • Business & finance – Social Media Workshops, Keynote Speakers

Young people are invited to join these free sessions, where they can access expert advice, learn a new skill and take part in a variety of activities.

And if that’s not enough, you can also come along and find out how you can enhance your mental, spiritual and financial wellbeing with meaningful, practical tips and advice from experts in their field.

Plus, there will be lots of giveaways from snacks to power concentration during the talks to free customised shoes!

Young Urban Art Foundation —DJ Workshop & Music Production

Engage with creative music workshops inside the YUAF double-decker Outreach Media Bus, providing more opportunities for young people to express and grow their creativity. Take part in Music Production taster workshops on the ground floor and fun and engaging DJ workshops on the top floor.

Rosetta Arts—Screenprinting and Branding

Are you a creative young mind looking to explore the world of design, branding, and
screenprinting? Join us for an exciting and interactive workshop tailored just for you
  • Screenprinting: Discover the magic of screenprinting as our experienced instructors guide you through the process. You’ll have the chance to create your very own screenprinted artwork to take home.
  • Branding Basics: Learn the fundamentals of branding and how it plays a crucial role in shaping the identity of businesses and organisations.
  • Interactive Sessions: Engage in dynamic discussions and activities that will challenge your creativity and expand your knowledge of design and branding.

The Wick — Being a human journalist in the era of AI

The Wick is a free quarterly hyperlocal newspaper dedicated to showcasing local arts, culture and community in Hackney Wick and across the four Olympic Park boroughs. In this workshop, the editor and a journalist will explain how their editorial process works; from coming up with a story idea to seeing it on the printed page. The session will focus on writing, selecting pictures, transferring printed work to websites and social media, and lots more about the way a modern small media company works. You’ll learn lots of tips and tricks for making your own content more exciting, wherever you may be posting it, and discover the kinds of career options that new technology, including AI, are rapidly creating here in East London and far beyond. You’ll have a chance to write your own headlines and short articles that might even be published in a future edition of The Wick, and can take home some free copies of the latest editions too.

BADU—Hidden Talent programme

As an extension of our BADU Hidden Talent program, we’ll be providing a workshop aimed at young adults.
