Call out: Help us connect care-experienced young people with new opportunities
Foundation for Future London is looking for referral partners to help connect care-experienced young people with our new project, Care Experienced Changemakers – Pilot Programme. We’re also inviting interested young care leavers and care-experienced young people to get in touch if they’d like to get involved.
Funded by the Cherry Family Foundation, the Care Experienced Changemakers pilot will run from December 2026 to June 2027. It is part of our Co-Creating Meaningful Change with Care Leavers programme, which puts care-experienced young people at the heart of decisions that shape their lives and our city and is championed by Baroness Lola Young, Foundation for Future London Co-Chair.
About the pilot
The six-month pilot will bring together 12 care-experienced young adults aged 18–25 from Barking and Dagenham, Hackney, Newham, Redbridge, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest.
It will create space for young people to connect with peers, develop new skills and work together to shape positive change for people leaving care.
We’re working with specialist youth organisation DICE CIC and Foundation for Future London’s lived-experience youth and care leaver ambassadors to shape and deliver the pilot.
How referral partners can help
We want to reach young people who could benefit from being part of the pilot and make it as straightforward as possible for them to find out more.
We’re looking for referral partners who can help us:
- Share the opportunity with care-experienced young people across the six boroughs.
- Explain the programme personally, answer initial questions and help young people understand what taking part could involve.
- Identify any support or access needs early, so we can work together to help young people take part.
Referral partners could include leaving-care and social-care teams, public health and children’s services, care-experienced organisations and community partners working across the six East London boroughs.
Become a referral partner
This is a time-limited pilot, and working together will help us reach young people in time to take part.
If your organisation works with care-experienced young people in Barking and Dagenham, Hackney, Newham, Redbridge, Tower Hamlets or Waltham Forest, we’d love to hear from you.
