The Switch

In 2020, our Board of Trustees supported our ambition for the charity to go beyond our current remit and play an integral role in supporting 16-25-year-olds in the borough transition from education into a stable career.

By building an Alumni Network of young people that have been through our programmes during their school lives, we can support and track them into their employment, and they can support each other as they pursue career journeys and climb the career ladder.

Help at this critical stage in their lives is essential to tackle the under-employment that is far too common in Tower Hamlets and the wider East London area.

An integral part of our ambition is to have a dedicated Alumni Portal. It will act as an online hub which young people to connect with each other. It will host many practical and accessible resources for the young people such as interactive advice videos and webinars on common employability topics such as creating CVs, personal statements, preparing for interview and assessment centre techniques.

It will also act as a marketplace for employers wishing to recruit local young talent, and it will signpost young people to school leaver programmes, apprenticeships, paid internships and work experience. We know our employer partners are committed to equality, diversion and inclusion and the portal will help them access local talent and support young people get on their career ladder.
