Delivered by Isaac Simpson
In 2022, the Foundation for Future London has awarded a grant to Isaac Nanabeyin Simpson for project “The NEW ETHNICITIES” for people in Hackney, Tower Hamlets and Newham through our Small Grant Scheme.
The NEW ETHNICITIES project is a series of ‘how to’ workshops bridging the gap between Black, Asian and ethnically diverse young people aged 13 – 18 and young adults aged 19-29 in architecture within East London Boroughs.
The Small Grant Scheme is part of our new Westfield East Bank Creative Futures Fund, funded by Westfield Stratford City.
The project meets two of our scheme’s key themes, Learning Opportunities and Young People.
The NEW ETHNICITIES project is a series of ‘how to’ workshops bridging the gap between Black, Asian and ethnically diverse young people aged 13 – 18 and young adults aged 19-29 in architecture within East London Boroughs.
London is a tapestry of interwoven threads, an amalgamation of individuals from all backgrounds, experiences and histories. Unfortunately, in British Architecture, these stories are not reflected in its education or the built city.
This project is an opportunity to create young agents of change, to use existing underrepresented creatives to cultivate and celebrate a space that can teach and empower young participants who are interested in architecture through a ‘BAME’ narrative.
If any East London schools, community groups or youth hubs are interested in taking part, please email isaacnsimpson@yahoo.co.uk.
