Delivered by Idea Space
In 2022, the Foundation for Future London has awarded a grant to Idea Space for its project “Idea Space” to help young people in Newham and Waltham Forest develop new skills in the creative industries using professional equipment, through our Capital Grant Scheme.
The Capital Grant Scheme is art of our Westfield East Bank Creative Futures Fund, funded by Westfield Stratford City.
Idea Space is a growing locally-based organisation that provides creative projects for young and disadvantaged people in East London. This capital grant will make it possible for Idea Space to deliver high-quality projects using professional standard equipment, giving young people the opportunity to develop new skills in the creative industries.
The ongoing project work of Idea Space will improve employment and learning opportunities for young people by connecting to and working with local businesses and setting the right conditions for entrepreneurial ideas and support. Mentoring from industry professionals and paid work experience roles are central to our projects.
We will widen audiences and access to the work by showcasing the art that is created on the high street at the heart of communities within which it was made.
Our projects help to improve the mental health and well-being of each participant by giving them a space to express themselves creatively and equipping them to deal with and process difficult emotions. Each of our projects are designed with young and disadvantaged people in mind offering them the opportunity to act as agents of change in their local area.
The grant makes it possible for Idea Space to make digital media for community partners like the Cann Hall Farm Kitchen and the Man Den.
