Delivered by Half Moon Theatre
In 2021 and 2022, the Foundation for Future London is supporting “Half Moon Trainees” by Tower Hamlets-based Half Moon Theatre through our Medium Grant Scheme.
This scheme is part of our new Westfield East Bank Creative Futures Fund, funded by Westfield Stratford City.
“Half Moon Trainees” is an opportunity for school leavers to join Half Moon for training and paid trainee roles in access, front of house and lighting work.
Thanks to support from the Westfield East Bank Creative Futures Fund, Half Moon were able to offer free training and paid trainee roles to six young people from September 2021 to March 2022. The training covered Front of House work, Access work and Lighting work. Our aim is to support young adults to take their first step into the theatre industry.
In order to maximise the impact of the programme, we opened the training out to five additional young people who will hopefully use the skills they developed in the training to go on to paid work elsewhere.
Training included:
Trainees are paid at London Living Wage.
Two of our trainees are specialising in Front of House work and are here every Saturday to greet audiences.
Two of our trainees are specialising in technical work and are here on alternate Fridays and Saturdays doing a get-in for our shows and supporting the operating of the shows.
Two trainees divide their time between Front of House and Access, working on our teenage Solar and Lunar Youth Theatres on weekday evenings.
