Delivered by Nazia Sultana
In 2022, the Foundation for Future London has awarded a grant to Nawzia Sultana for the project “Green Up Newham” for people in Newham through our Small Grant Scheme. The project meets two of our scheme’s key themes, Young People and Learning Opportunities.
Green Up Newham aims to design and develop a new sensory garden in a community centre based in Newham to encourage young people’s wellbeing and participation, addressing the lack of diversity in environmental projects.
The Small Grant Scheme is part of our new Westfield East Bank Creative Futures Fund, funded by Westfield Stratford City.
Green Up Newham aims to design and develop a new sensory garden in a community centre based in Newham to encourage young people’s wellbeing and participation, addressing the lack of diversity in environmental projects.
The Black, Asian and ethnically diverse (BAME) communities bear the brunt of green poverty, yet they are hardly included in discussions, events or projects regarding the environment. Through this project, I want young people from BAME communities to take lead on an environmental project and feel a sense of pride from seeing it from inception to delivery.
