Delivered by The Switch
In 2024, the Foundation for Future London awarded a grant to The Switch for its project “The Alumni Programme” to provide continued support to young people as they transition from secondary school, sixth form, or college and onto the world of work. Through employability workshops, work experiences and an online portal, we will provide ladders of opportunity for young people aged 16-25 through our Large Grant Scheme.
The Large Grant Scheme is part of our Westfield East Bank Creative Futures Fund, funded by Westfield Stratford City.
The Switch works to tackle the under-employment of Tower Hamlets youth. Through modern and highly effective programmes, we facilitate positive engagement between employers and schools, providing life changing careers education and empowering young people age 5-25 to discover their best futures.
The Alumni Programme aims to provide continued support to young people as they transition from secondary school, sixth form, or college and onto the world of work. Through employability workshops, work experiences and an online portal, we will provide ladders of opportunity for young people aged 16-25.
Last year we worked hard to launch our bespoke Alumni Portal, and in the 4 months since the site went live, we have welcomed nearly 600 users. In year two, we aim to keep our momentum, build on our success and ensure that the portal’s quality and output is maximised. We want to engage as many employer partners, especially from within the creative sector, and expand access to the site for Hackney and Newham young people through our existing network of East London partners.
The long-term aim of the programme is to build a diverse and talented network of young people from Tower Hamlets and beyond, empowered as agents of change, they will support future generations, by meeting with and inspiring younger members of their communities and schools who share a similar background.
