Delivered by E17 Puppet Project
In 2021, the Foundation for Future London is supporting “Connected Arts” by Waltham Forest-based E17 Puppet Project through our Small Grant Scheme.
This scheme is part of our Westfield East Bank Creative Futures Fund, funded by Westfield Stratford City.
E17 Puppet Project will deliver ‘Connected Arts’ as a response to the Covid-19 pandemic to improve the health and wellbeing of residents in Waltham Forest, Newham and Hackney by connecting them with each other and their local environment.

This project has been successfully piloted for remote/virtual delivery since May 2020 and is aimed at socially isolated adults, often physically inactive, who are experiencing a challenging time in their lives. The intention is to provide weekly social and creative sessions on Friday mornings via Zoom and to run a monthly creative carers group.
Referrals to the programme by Social Prescribing teams in each of the boroughs (working with GPs in the first instance), and other trusted partners like Carers First, Local Area Co-ordinators, Time to Change and Live Smart Schemes (for 60+s), as well as self-referrals.
Sessions will be led by our experienced facilitators (artists working in various disciplines and our experienced volunteers) and follow a framework in which participants explore together source material and share their own experiences, in this case focused on the local area and community. Sessions are very user-led, so participants will also be encouraged to develop session topics/ideas.
Tried and tested topics include: ‘What I’d Tell Myself’ and ‘My Streets, My Story’ sessions, shadow theatre workshops, and ‘Drawing to Music’.
Our sessions will bring together the existing and new communities; introducing participants new to the area to key public spaces in the borough (through our virtual tour of Walthamstow Wetlands, for examples) and the past and present stories/events linked to them.
