In 2020, we are supporting the “Changing Minds In Challenging Times” project by Catalyst In Communities through our Connecting People and Places funding, co-funded by Foundation for FutureLondon and City of London.
“Changing Minds In Challenging Times” is a collaborative project between Get Living, Foundation for FutureLondon and Rosetta Arts based in Newham.
We awarded “Changing Minds In Challenging Times” project a grant as it meets many of Connecting People and Places’s themes and priorities including Participation, Diversity, Place Making, Engagement, Wellbeing and Education.
The project also focuses on young, older, BAME and working-class participants, some of the marginalised groups of beneficiaries we want to reach.
Changing Minds in Challenging Times is co-created with young people who featured in the acclaimed EastSide Story, an original piece of theatre commissioned by Waltham Forest, London Borough of Culture 2019, to offer creative opportunities to others. ‘Changing Minds in Challenging Times’ uses creative artistic media, performance and coaching to develop a youth-led response to negative stereotypes and social pressures many young people face.
Using Catalyst in Community’s group-work intervention programme alongside master classes and practical hands-on experience, young participants work towards making their own ‘story’ productions and gain positive life skills.
