UCL Special Collections

University College London’s (UCL) Special Collections manages an outstanding collection of rare books, archives and manuscripts, dating from the 4th century to the present day.  Together, the team preserve and conserve the collection and facilitate access through a reader service, academic teaching, digitisation and outreach programming.

The New Curators Project is a part of the Outreach Programme, which seeks to create inspiring and engaging learning experiences for a diverse non-specialist audience in Camden, Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest and Newham.

To deliver The New Curators Project, UCL Special Collections are working in partnership with Newham Heritage Month (NHM).  NHM is an annual cultural heritage festival taking place in June 2022 that promises live participatory events and online activities of and in the borough of Newham, showcasing the area’s rich and diverse heritage.
