Stories & Supper
Since early 2017, Stories & Supper have been bringing refugees, asylum seekers and local residents together in Waltham Forest through food and stories. We innovate to find new ways to challenge negative migration narratives, boost refugees’ self-confidence and skills, and break down barriers.
Our core activities include weekly creative workshops (poetry, storytelling, drama, cookery, textiles) and growing sessions at our allotment. These are open to refugees/asylum seekers and local residents who want to offer a warm welcome.
We also host public events such as supper clubs and story cafes and create opportunities for refugees/asylum seekers to perform and cook.
We have published two books – a book of recipes and stories for London Borough of Culture and an anthology of poetry and stories written by refugees and asylum seekers in our group.
