Marie Bashiru
The English Folk and Dance Song Society (EFDSS), Marie Bashiru’s biographical writing talents paired with her soulful melodies have been selected by The Independent as one of 2020’s Artist Spotlight, with her innovative research on Black British folk music culminating in the release of the podcast, British Folk Music: Where Are All The Black People?
She has written for publications such as Black Ballad, and Songlines Magazine. Marie also curated and launched the exhibition “British Folk Music: Where Are All The Black People?” at AMP studios, South-East London in 2021 at the Shut Up and Play Festival.
