Community Music
Community Music was the first project of its type in 1983 and has been at the forefront of community-based creative development work with young people since then. It pioneered work with young offenders using music production, accredited training in the arts, Internet radio, access to higher education and teacher training for professional musicians to teach in the community.
It currently has a state-of-the-art training centre in Whitechapel that gives access to professional music equipment and studios for young people from all types of social and educational background. It particularly targets young people experiencing exclusion through its youth projects and creates progression pathways for them to develop and progress over time.
CM believes every young person has the right to a creative education that suits their learning style and needs, and the individual support to support their progression to employment or higher education.
