Capacity Building Programme – Westfield East Bank Creative Futures Fund

For Year 2 of our Westfield East Bank Creative Futures Fund, we are hosting, in partnership with award-winning social entrenpeneur Lisa Stepanovic, a series of capacity building events, starting with pre-application workshops.

It’s vitally important that we arm our communities, local organisations and grantees with tools and expertise to help them develop and manage life changing projects. Our Capacity Building Programme will aim to empower skills, growth, and development, provide a platform for knowledge sharing, and offer networking and partnership opportunities. The programme is being designed with an inclusive approach including feedback and needs of participants. A range of topics will be on offer and all will include content around the importance of core values and lived experience.

The programme will champion inclusivity and wellbeing throughout.

Grant Schemes

The Small Grant Scheme has a pot of £180,000 and will award 30-35 small grants. The Expression of Interest Form opened on 24 August and will close on 24 September 2021.

The Medium Grant Scheme and Large Grant Scheme will open for applications on 30 September and will close on 3 December 2021 — updated guidance will be issued closer to the opening date.

Programme Phase 1: Pre-Application Workshops

The Foundation, working in partnership with Lisa Stepanovic, is excited to open the Capacity Building Programme with three initial pre application workshops. We know how daunting it can be to start a funding application. These sessions are designed to be engaging, upbeat and give clear insight into the Westfield East Bank Creative Future Fund. The sessions will provide guidance, advice, and examples for completing the funding application for all strands, Small, Medium and Large Grant. They will be interactive and allow attendees to ask questions and learn more about the Foundation and its Westfield Fund.

Session 1: Thursday 2 September at 6 pm via Zoom

This is a pre-application session that will include fund information and application process advice with opportunities for questions and answers.

Session 2: Tuesday 7 September at 1 pm via Zoom

This is a pre-application session that will include fund information and application process advice with opportunities for questions and answers.

Session 3: Monday 13 September 6-8 pm via Zoom

This interactive workshop will take applicants through the Small Grant scheme’s actual application form with examples of how to answer the specific questions, ‘what a strong answer looks’ and also looking at cutting through any language barriers/jargon, explaining everything in a simplified way. This session will also help us to identify people with extra support needs.

Programme Phase 2: Co-designed

We want to ensure the Capacity Building Programme reflects the needs of grantees and future potential grantees. We will be reaching out over the duration of the programme to grantees and community groups to ensure that any workshops developed are beneficial and provide what is needed.

Once workshops have been designed, information, dates and how to book will be posted here and shared on the Foundation’s and Lisa’s website, social media channels and networks.
