Nearly 10 years ago, East London took centre stage, showcasing the very best of disabled people in sport, art and culture as part of the London Olympics and Paralympics, with a global audience.
Today we continue to honour this legacy by recognising the important contribution that disabled people continue to make before, during and after the 2012 Games to the arts, culture, heritage and innovation sectors, as well local community.
Our understanding of disability is through the social model of disability: what makes someone disabled is not their medical condition, but society and its attitudes, prejudice and restrictive structures.
Our definition of disability also includes people with mental health and long term health conditions.
As a funder and fundraiser, our vision is for a vibrant and inclusive creative East London. We aim to create authentic engagement and collaboration with local people in the boroughs of Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest.
We are interested in supporting disabled people, organisations and businesses.
