Welcoming Stephen Burr and Christopher West to our Board
We are pleased to welcome Stephen Burr and Christopher West to our Board.
Joining our 15-member charity board, Stephen and Christopher bring extensive experience across finance, governance and strategic leadership, strengthening the expertise that supports our work and long-term vision.
Their appointments come at an exciting time for the organisation as we continue to grow partnerships, invest in young people and communities, and champion culture-led change across East London and beyond.
Stephen ‘Steve’ Burr is an experienced charity trustee and senior insurance professional with more than 30 years’ experience in finance. Throughout his career, he has held a number of senior roles in The City, including serving as an FSA-approved person.
Steve is currently Chief Actuary at Pool Reinsurance Company Limited, an arm’s-length government body that provides resilience to the UK in the event of a terrorist attack. In this role, he oversees complex risk and modelling within a highly regulated environment, bringing valuable strategic insight and governance expertise to the Board.
Christopher West is a Chartered Accountant (ACA, FCA) with over 20 years’ experience in financial and business management. Having trained at PwC in 2006, Christopher has gone on to lead finance departments across a range of businesses, supporting strategic financial planning and technology-led operational control.
Most recently, as Finance Director at a national advocacy charity, Christopher worked directly with the Board to oversee financial risk analysis, budgeting, regulatory compliance and long-term financial planning.
As we continue to expand our impact, Stephen and Christopher’s experience will play an important role in supporting sustainable growth and ensuring strong governance across the organisation.
We are delighted to welcome them both and look forward to working together in the years ahead.
