Welcoming King Simpson, our new Community Ambassador

3 November 2026
By Sarah Nelson

This month in honour of National Care Leavers Month, we’re delighted to welcome King Simpson as our eighth Community Ambassador and Care Experience Lead, supporting our work to champion care-experienced young people and ensure their voices help shape the decisions that affect their lives.

King is a London-based social values campaigner, workshop facilitator, writer and filmmaker whose work has screened at BAFTA-qualifying festivals. Drawing on his lived experience of the care system, he uses storytelling to encourage empathy, challenge assumptions and inspire change.

Through film, talks and workshops, King creates space for foster carers, social workers, educators and other professionals to reflect on how their decisions can shape a young person’s sense of safety, belonging and identity. His work explores trauma, cultural identity and the importance of meaningful relationships, alongside the lasting impact of disrupted attachments.

King is also a storyliner, co-writer and executive producer of Home, a short film exploring a young person’s journey through care and into adulthood. He has delivered talks and workshops for local authorities, fostering services and education professionals, and spoken in Parliament about the importance of preserving meaningful attachments for children in care. His work also explores Black history and the importance of helping care-experienced young people stay connected to their heritage.

At Foundation for Future London, we believe lasting change happens when communities have the opportunity to shape their own futures. Our Community Ambassador Programme brings together people with lived experience, knowledge, ideas and connections to help us listen, learn and build stronger relationships with the communities we work alongside.

As our Care Experience Lead, King will help us champion the voices of care-experienced people and support opportunities for young people to feel seen, heard and empowered to shape their own futures.

We’re excited to work with King as we continue to put care-experienced young people at the heart of our work and build a future where their experiences, ideas and ambitions help drive meaningful change.
